Kagera primary school project
Het project van vorig jaar heeft ons veel vol-doening
gegeven, en we hebben voor deze reis dan ook al besloten ook dit
jaar een sponsoring-project op te zetten.
Na ons bezoek aan Kagera
primary school heeft Ineke besloten dat dit het volgende project
gaat worden...
Eénmaal thuis beginnen we meteen met het verzamelen
van allerlei schoolmateriaal, en binnen 'no time' staat er een
volle doos met twintig kilogram aan school-materiaal klaar voor verzending.
De eerste E-mails naar Uganda komen lang-zaam op gang...

Hello Sam,
Last July we visited your school and we enjoyed it very much. Let
me first make a short introduction...
Last year we sponsored a school in Zambia, with the coorporation of a few friends.
They sponsored our project and so we could buy some school related stuff. The
project was a big success, and I'd like to do the same this year. So if I can
find some sponsors in the Netherlands, I'd like to send you some school-supplies,
but I have a question:
I have forgotten how many groups you have... (I remember you had about 820 children).

Thanks alot for your letter dated 3/9/2008. I am very much impressed
with your developments and efforts I pray for a much big and better
success.
Concerning our school, The total enrollment is 820.
The following are the groups.
1. Music dance and drama group 84
2. Foot ball club 42
3. Volley club 24
4. Teaching staff 18
5. Reading culture group 120
Total. 288
The rest of the groups are still growing up.
We shall be much happy to hear from you again.

De vraag voor een camera vinden we een beetje brutaal, maar een
paar dagen later volgt er zelfs een complete lijst van allerlei
benodigdheden, van atlassen, globes, studieboeken t/m complete
ramen, deuren en cementzakken. Ze hebben de kleinschaligheid van
ons project vast niet helemaal begrepen... Na
wat E-mailtjes over en weer (en duizendmaal excuses voor de niet
voor ons bedoelde lijst) sturen we onze eerste doos richting Uganda.
En Zondag 1 Februari volgt het verlossende woord, het pakket is
gearriveerd...

Dear Frank
How is everything going on those ends? we are too doing very well
and we are yet to start the new year school calender which is
due on Monday 2nd Feb.
The main content of this letter therefore is to express my sincere
thanks from the bottom of my heart, may you be rewarded accordingly.
i have received the box and all the materials contained there within.
i strongly promise that the materials will meet the exact needs
of both the pupils, teachers and the school in particular.
I will make throughrough distribution of the materilas on Monday
2nd Feb. 2009 when all the pupils and teachers will have turned
up from holidays thats when i i will communicate ton you the learners
attitudes towards the materilas.
I surelyt dont know how to say Thank you but any only to wish
you blessings as we continuee our relationships.

hoofd-lerares wat vraagtekens plaatst bij de rol van Sam Ngabire...

I got a number of e-mail addresses from Mr. Ngabire Sam and i am not very sure
of which is the correct address. Even iam not sure whether the number of items
in the parcel was correct becuase the parcel was open and had no checklist indicated
Please reply me to confirm the right e-mail address so i can inform the school
management committee because the members are eager to get it.

Na wat E-mails over en weer blijkt er toch het één
en ander uit de doos te zijn verdwenen... Ik besluit hier toch even
op door te vragen, en we schakelen onze chaufeur Eddy in om verhaal te
halen tijdens één van zijn volgende bezoekjes aan Kisoro. Het wordt een
ware rel...
Het blijkt dat Sam de doos eerst zelf gein-specteerd heeft, en
er vervolgens het één en ander uit heeft verwijderd. Gelukkig
komt het hoofd der school, Mrs. Rukema, hier achter en wordt Sam
ter verantwoording geroepen. Er wordt een provisorische vergadering
belegd met ouders / dorpsgenoten en Sam wordt over-geplaatst. We
krijgen een briefje met de 'overgebleven' inhoud, en duizendmaal
excuses voor het gebeurde...
Na veel wikken en wegen besluiten we enkele maanden later toch nog
een tweede doos te sturen, onder strikte voorwaarden en met goedkeuring
van zowel mevrouw Leocardia Rukema als ook de ouderraad. Gelukkig
komt deze doos wel ongeopend aan en klopt de inhoud met de inventarislijst.
Sam presteert het nog contact met ons op te nemen met grootse verhalen
over zijn nieuwe school, waarbij de 'verplichte' overplaatsing
wijselijk wordt gemeden. Wij weten inmiddels beter, en Sam verdwijnt
voorgoed op de black list... Als laatste ontvangen we nog een mailtje
van Kigary, die we jullie niet willen onthouden.

I am writing on the behalf of Kagera Primary school.I teach in
the School next to it (Mutolere Primary school) and I am the Wildlife
Clubs of Uganda mobiliser for kisoro district.When Edmund Mujuni
was working with the Wildlife Clubs of Uganda on the Great Apes
Survival Project with Great Apes Kit Presentation,I worked with
him in the area and that is how he came to know many schools in
Kisoro, Kagera Primary School inclusive.I happen to have a Wildlife
Club at the same school and I do visit the school quite often for
Conservation education programmes to the young people.
Again,I new from the beginning when you visited the school because
I had a discussion with Edmund about it.
I was then requested by the School to help and take pictures of children
using the materials you gave them during play time and then send them
to you.The attached are hence the photos.
The headteacher who was there,the one who used to communicate with
you other than Sam Ngabire (Rukema Leocadia),was promoted as a Tutor
at kisoro Primary Teachers' College. This makes a bit difficult for
her to keep running the School Programmes when she is no longer working
with it.
Next week I shall be with the new headteacher together with Leocadia
and will confirm with you on which email you will be writing to and
the person to handle.
Meanwhile,if you need to communicate to the School,write through
my mail and I shall print out the document and give to the school.I
shall have no objection of assisting since I had been involved before
in the prior programmes as I said.
Once again,the staff and the children of Kagera Primary School are
happy with your support.They highly extend their sincere gratitude
to you and the the people you work with.
